Binding wire in Pakistan is sold per kg, and the rate moves with steel prices, so it changes from week to week. What is the price of binding wire per kg today?

Why does the binding wire rate change every week?
Binding wire is drawn from steel wire rod. When steel prices, import costs or the rupee move, wire prices follow. In FY26, Pakistan’s large-scale steel output fell 7.84% while steel prices rose, so wire rates have been moving often. A dated weekly rate is the fairest way to price it.
What is binding wire used for?
It ties steel bars (sariya) together where they cross, so the reinforcement cage keeps its shape while concrete is poured and vibrated. It is soft (annealed) so workers can twist it by hand or with pliers.
Which gauge of binding wire should I buy?
A higher gauge number means a thinner wire.
- 18 gauge is the common choice for tying rebar in slabs, beams and columns.
- 16 gauge is thicker and used where a stronger tie is needed.
- 20 gauge is thinner and easier to twist, for light work.
If your structural engineer has specified a gauge, follow the drawing.
Black annealed or GI binding wire?
Black annealed wire is cheaper and is fully covered by concrete, so rust is not a concern. Galvanised (GI) binding wire has a zinc coating and suits ties that will stay exposed to weather.
How much binding wire does a slab need?
